I'm up to ears in vitamin C, garlic pills, colloidal silver, and mullein tea...and my normal prenatas and iron....and some homemade chicken noodle soup and superfood smoothies...surrounded by sniffling children and a growing pile of tissues. Yuck!
I've been sick since Friday and by God's grace, the worst fell on the weekend when my dear husband could pamper me and let me sleep all day Saturday and part of Sunday. Today I'm better....but sick enough to miss seeing a friend, and a sewing date that I've had planned since last weekend!
Friends brought over dinner tonight without us asking, and we're taking turns doing chores, changing diapers, and playing "trucks and cars".
FYI...If you ever get the kind of cough that gets worse when you lay down and you're coughing up phlegm, and you're throat tickles bad....try the homeopathic pills "bronchial cough"...(the same brand as the teething tablets...Hyland's)...those little white pills helped me fall asleep quickly and not cough all night! Any other tips for get

This purging thing feels so good....I'm up to over 110 things piling up on the guestroom bed! I've even found some food items in the cupboard that I know I won't use so I can donate those to the Food Bank!
We North Americans  have so much "stuff"....that we don't need or even use....when we can be content (still quite spoiled) with so much less....
I started out my parenting days with the philosophy that I didn't want to have very many toys. I have traveled to places where children played contently with rocks and sticks and their only toy was a ball, which they used to play with each other!
I didn't want my kids to be consumed by materialism even before they had a chance to talk!  I still feel strongly about limiting the quality and quantity of toys that enter our home....but it's so hard to live in a society where this perspective is not only misunderstood but also persecuted!  This purge, though, has me revisiting my ideals and seeking to pare down the stuff even more....allowing toys that are relationship building, stimulating to the imagination, constructive, and hopefully lead-free. =) Still, though...I get great pleasure from seeing my children playing outside contently with simply....rocks and sticks.

It's only lunchtime and I'm up to 74 items....I think I'm going to readjust my goal to 100...it makes my indecisiveness seem to disappear when I'm evaluating my "stuff"...making my goal seems more important than holding on to these things that I've been storing and not using!!  Josiah has been helping me...it's so cute...I can't wait to get to his belongings and see how he responds....I might have to sneak some things into my pile...
Tenisha asked me how I will reward myself...after I get it all out of the house, then I think I might stop by our local juice bar for a shot of wheat grass! But only if I make it to 100....

It's purge day in the Rollins household!! Hurray!
I spent last week with Tenisha in Portland (sadly, I did not take a single picture!!) and we spent lots of time cleaning and sorting and organizing...(thank you, Auntie Squisha, for letting me play at your house!)
So now that I'm home and a bit more settled and rested (we stayed up super late gabbing...) and I'm in my smaller space with more stuff....I'm feeling inspired to purge!!!
I had a girlfriend who would come over and she would say "let's find 100 things to get rid of!"  At first the task seemed daunting, until she explained that it could be things to give away, throw away, or consign...and pretty soon I was able to come up with all sorts of things I had been overlooking in my clutter! We did reach our goal...and it felt so good....
So today, even though I am alone (okay, I've still got my little munchkins who want to sit on my lap as I blog...and who are destructing as I'm cleaning...but not a motivating friend to keep me on task!!)....I'm inspired...though I've lowered my list for today to 50 things purged... ( I get bonus points for more than 50 items, right????)
Onward Ho! First we have to get through breakfast.....

Well...there it is....still growing....This was a couple weeks ago....

This one was this morning...I felt the baby kick on Saturday night while watching an episode of Band of Brothers with Brent....does this mean our little one will be a history buff like his Daddy? Or maybe he/she heard the loud bombing and gunfire sounds and was responding to that....=)
Either way, it's comforting to know that there's life in there....Praise the Lord!
